Techniques of Performance Appraisal in 21st century

 There are many modern techniques of Performance appraisal. These techniques are as below-

1. Management by objectives- it is the first and the most popular technique of Performance appraisal. It is the process in which the goals of organization are defined, discussed and distributed by the management among employees to achieve every objectives of organization. In this process the performance of every employee is monitored, measured against the predefined objectives. 

Advantages-

There are many advantages of Management by objectives. These advantages are as below

1. It helps employees to perform their roles and responsibilities by a effective way. 

2. It provides better output. 

3. It provides clear understanding what should employees do for the development of organization. 

4. Every employee feels proud at his function, role etc. 

5. It develops better relationship between employee and management. 

2. 360 decree it is the second modern method of Performance appraisal. It is also called Multi rater feedback. 

In this process organization sets goals for employees for one or two years. They also assess the performance of employees according to predefined goals. The assessment of employees performance is done after six months. Every employee provides self assessment form and after filling the form employees submit to Human resource manager. Experts check the form and find out actual performance of employee. 

Advantages-

1. Every employee knows his positive and negative feature. 

2. It is a bias free method. 

3. It motivates employees towards positive direction. 

4.It increases the responsibilities of employees towards organization. 

5. It is a comprehensive technique of performance appraisal. 

3. Assessment centre- it is also an important method of performance appraisal. The process in which many exercises are used by experts to test the performance of employees this process is called assessment centre of Performance appraisal. 

There are three steps of assessment techniques. These are pre, during and post assessment. 


ADVANTAGE:-

1. It is used for selection and promotion of employees. 

2. It checks positive and negative features of employees. 

3. It finds out the strength and weakness of employees. 

4. It improves the performance of employees. 

5. Employers can set proper feedback.
