Maslow theory of motivation or Malow's hierarchy of needs

 There are many theories of motivation we use to motivate human resource force of organisation.These theories are Hertberg's two factor theory,McClelland's theory of needs,Vroom's theory of expectancy,Mc Gregor's theory,Maslow's hierachy of needs and so on.Every theory is unique and use in particular situation.Among all Maslow's hierachy of need is one of the best theory that is used to motivate employee to contribute their best for the growth and goal achievement of organisation.

Abraham Maslow is a psychologist who published a paper A Theory of Human Motivation in 1943.According to him there are five types of need every worker possess.We should fulfill all these five needs of employees.If we fulfill all these needs we may consume the best knowledge,talent,skill,wisdom of employees and make our functions more effective,efficient,smooth and achieve our goal.These needs are as below-

1.Physiological needs-It is the first need of employees.It is also called basic needs.Every employee wants air,water,food,cloth,shelter etc.We should make policy programme to fulfill all these needs of all employees who work in our organisation.

2.Safety needs-It is the second need of employees.Every employee wants security in his life.These security belongs to health,family,job so we should provide job security,health security,financial security,family security to employees.

3.Social needs-Employee is a social organism.They need love affection,care,respect etc in organisation.We should care them.We make such type of environment in organisation that every employee get love,affection care,respect inside organisation and feel satisfied.

4.Esteem needs-It is the forth need of employees.Employees want power,status,recognition,admiration,achievement etc,The employees who contribute their best for the development of organisation we should provide all these things to concern employees to inspire them.

5.Self actualization need-It is the last need of employees.Employees want to grow.They also want personal achievement in life.If employees have quality we should provide environment to grow in professional life.

All these are five needs of employees that is first defined by Maslow in systematic way so this is the first and popular theory of motivation.
