There are many elements of management information system. These elements are people, hardware, software and information. Each and every element is important but information is more important because information helps manager to perform their function by effective, efficient and economical way. 

Information is the output that is got after processing facts and figures. 

In other words we can say that information is a usable things that manager gets after searching, identifying, processing of raw data. 

Nature:

1. It is a finished form.

2. It is formal form.

3. It may be qualitative.

4. It may be quantitative.

5. It is positive.

6. It is progressive.

Types of information:

There are many types of information. These types are as below:

1. personal information- it is the first type of information. The information that belongs to name, age, qualification, father's name, mother's name. This type of information is called personal information.

2. Professional information- it is the second type of information. The information that belongs to post, job, power, rights, duty, accountability, responsibility of individual. Such type of information is called professional information.

3. Technical information- it is also an important type of information. The information that belongs to technology like hardware, software, computer and similar type of things. This type of information is known as technical information.

4. Non- technical information- it is also an important type of information. The information that belongs to customer, consumer, retailer, whole seller, distributer. This type of information is called non- technical information.

So, we can say that information is an important part of management information system. It plays an important role for the development and goal achievement process of organisation..
