Primary Data and its collection methods Advantage disadvantage.

There are two types of data. One is primary data and second is secondary data.

Primary data- The data that is collected by researcher and present in original form this type of data is called primary data.
Secondary data-The data that is not collected by researcher and it is presented earlier this type of data is called Secondary data.
Methods of collection Primary data-
There are many methods of collecting Primary data. These methods are as below-
1.Survey method- It is the first and simple method of primary data collection.The process in which Researcher goes to Respondent and records facts, figure that is given by respondent this process is called Survey.
Advantage-
1.It is simple method.
2.It is less cost.
3.It may be conducted quickly.
4.It permits researcher to guide respondent.
5.It provides respondent enough time to think and reply.
Disadvantage-
1.It is not useful if topic is controversial.
2.The true response of Respondent is less.
3.If Respondent is uneducated and noncooperative it is not beneficial.
4.It consumes more time.
2.Observation method-It is second method of data collection.The process in which Researcher involve in facts,figure collecting process this process is called Observation.
In other words we can say that the process in which Researcher see,watch any event and collects facts, figure this process is called Observation.
Advantage-
1.It possess no bias.
2.It provides true facts, figure.
3.It also provides current facts, figure.
4.It is less costly.
5.It is fast method.
Disadvantage-
1.It consumes more time.
2.It is not applicable every field.
3.The view of Respondent is not collected.
4.It consumes more problems in the period of analysing.
5.It requires proper training of Researcher.
There are many types of Observation. These are Structured ,Unstructured, Participant ,Non Participant, Controlled and Uncontrolled Observation.
3. Interview- It is also an important method of data collection.The process in which Researcher uses oral verbal stimuli to collect facts, figure this process is called Interview.
Advantage-
1.It provides depth facts, figure.
2.It provides maximum response.
3.It also provides personal facts, figure.
4.It is flexible and adaptable.
5.It is more useful for complex topic.
Disadvantage-
1.It is time consuming process.
2.It is used only Respondent is limited.
3.The quality of data depends on Interviewer.
4,It is costly.
5.It is variable according to Interviewer.
There are many types of Interview. These are Personal Telephonic, Structured, Unstructured,Focused, Clinical, Group, Qualitative, Quantitative, Individual etc.
4.Questionnaire- It is popular method of data collection. The process in which we send or mail to Respondents who are able to read and reply the questions.This process is said questionnaire.
Advantage-
1.It is very beneficial when the number of Respondents are large.
2.It is very economical.
3.It consumes less time.
4.It is very beneficial if Respondents live wide area.
5.It is very useful for special type of research.
Disadvantage-
1.It provides limited feedback.
2.Personal contact is not possible.
3.It does not provide true facts,figure of all Respondents.
4.The ratio of feedback is minimum.
5.It is beneficial when Respondents are educated and cooperative,.
